Understand your label

CBD Strength Calculator

Calculate CBD per mL, gummy or capsule using the numbers on your product label.

Label details

Your label values

CBD in the entire package—not per serving, hemp extract weight, or combined cannabinoids. Unit: mg.

Use the liquid volume printed on the bottle. Unit: mL.

Read the dropper markings; a full dropper is not automatically 1 mL. Unit: mL.

Use a decimal point or comma for decimals. Do not use thousands separators.

Your calculation

Your label values

Start with your label.

Enter total CBD and bottle volume to see CBD per mL. Your serving is optional.

Calculated from your label values. Not a dosage recommendation.

Results use only the values you enter. They do not verify the product’s laboratory composition or tell you what serving to choose.

Where to find the numbers

Look for the amount specifically labeled CBD in the entire bottle or package. Do not enter mg per serving, the weight of hemp extract, or a combined CBD + THC + CBN total.

  • For oil: find total CBD in mg and the bottle’s liquid volume in mL. If you enter a serving, use its measured volume.
  • For gummies or capsules: find total CBD in mg and the number of whole pieces. Every piece must have the same labeled CBD content.
  • If a value is missing: check the manufacturer’s product information. Do not guess or substitute total cannabinoids for CBD.

How the calculation works

CBD oil

Total CBD (mg) ÷ bottle volume (mL) = CBD concentration (mg/mL).

Concentration (mg/mL) × your serving volume (mL) = CBD in your serving (mg).

Gummies & capsules

Total CBD (mg) ÷ number of pieces = CBD per piece (mg).

CBD per piece (mg) × whole pieces in your serving = CBD in your serving (mg).

Assumes equal CBD content in every whole piece. Does not estimate CBD in a divided gummy or capsule.

Worked example · oil

1500 mg ÷ 30 mL = 50 mg/mL

50 mg/mL × 0.5 mL = 25 mg

These are demonstration values. The 0.5 mL serving illustrates multiplication; it is not a recommendation.

Total CBD vs concentration vs serving

Total CBD mg
The CBD amount in the entire package. It does not tell you how much is in a single mL or piece.
Concentration mg/mL
For oil, the CBD amount per mL. For uniform gummies or capsules, the comparable figure is mg per piece.
Your serving mg
The calculated CBD amount in the volume or whole-piece count you enter. This tool does not choose that serving for you.

Common questions

What is the difference between mg and mL?

Milligrams (mg) describe the amount of CBD. Milliliters (mL) describe the volume of liquid. Dividing total CBD in mg by bottle volume in mL gives concentration in mg/mL.

How much CBD is in one dropper?

Check the volume markings on your dropper or the manufacturer’s information. A full dropper is not automatically 1 mL. Enter the measured volume in “Your serving volume” to calculate its CBD content.

Can I calculate CBD per drop?

This version does not calculate drops. Drop size varies, so it does not assume a standard number of drops per mL. Use a measured volume in mL instead.

What if the label lists total cannabinoids?

Use the amount specifically listed as CBD. Total cannabinoids may include THC, CBN or other compounds, and hemp extract weight is not the same as CBD content. If total CBD is unknown, this calculator cannot determine it.

Does this calculator recommend how much CBD to take?

No. It calculates concentration and the CBD amount in a serving you choose. It does not use your weight, age, symptoms or medical history, assess safety, or predict effectiveness or absorption.

Can I use it for different strengths in one package?

No. The pieces calculation assumes the same CBD amount in each whole gummy or capsule. It does not apply to mixed-strength packages, divided capsules or parts of gummies.
